Awards

In 2006 Woolgrove received an outstanding OFSTED report as recognised in OFSTED’s honours list of particularly high achieving schools.

In recent years Woolgrove has also achieved the following awards, which acknowledge the commitment of the staff and pupils at the school:

2000 Schools Curriculum Award. Acknowledging the variety, differentiation and extended learning opportunities offered at the school.

2001 Schools Achievement Award, Beacon Status. Acknowledging the schools ability to disseminate good practice.

2007 Active Gold Sports Award. At Woolgrove we employ a full time PE teacher. We place great emphasis on physical activities and staying healthy, as we are aware this impacts on our ability to learn.
2005 National Mentoring Award. The Outreach department has set up mentoring schemes with other mainstream schools. This award acknowledges our excellence in this area.
2005 and 2008 Inclusion Quality Award. We worked closely with several local mainstreams schools, offering mutual support, in order to gain this award. We were re-accredited with this award in 2008.

2006 Investors in People Award (reviewed). Woolgrove has always invested in its people offering support, training, and career opportunities as appropriate.

2006 Basic Skills Quality Mark. This award helps us to ensure we create a provision where all our pupils have the opportunity to improve their basic skills to enable them to cope throughout their lives. The school was re-accredited with this mark in 2009.

2006 Healthy Schools Award. Woolgrove achieved excellent standards in the following areas: PSHE and Citizenship, Safety and Healthy Eating.

2006 ICT Quality Mark. The assessor for this award stated that the school was working at an aspirational level. The areas of outstanding practice were the use of ICT in learning and teaching and the development of the curriculum. She stated that this good practice was a model for other teachers and other special schools.
We are pleased to announce that we have been re-accredited with the ICT Quality Mark (2009). The areas of outstanding practice were the personalised learning and a curriculum which allows for progression of skills.
2007 Artsmark Gold Award. Woolgrove has once again received this award for its commitment to the Arts (Art, Drama, English, Dance, Music).
2007 Foundation Stage Quality Mark. This award highlighted the following strengths: a strong team of staff, excellent partnership with parents, exciting learning opportunities and happy secure children who are supported to learn.
2008 Activemark Award. Woolgrove achieved this award for its excellent delivery and implementation of the National PE and Sport Strategy.
